Something to think about - or ignore if you don't like thinking!

Lawrence Lessig on Government and Media reform - This is about the US government - but is relevant to those of us elsewhere too (Not just Dave Peters). Lessig explains the power of big business in policy and in media. He quotes a study that looked at a 1000 peer reviewed scientific articles about global warming written between 1993 & 2003 - 100% accepted that; it was real, human beings were mainly responsible; there were terrible consequences; we need to fix it; and it's not too late. A similar study was conducted of articles in popular media -guess what, 53% argued against the consensus! Argghhh! The problem is , few of us read the Science, but most of us read the paper. There is little wonder that lots of really good people have been taken in by the propaganda!

"For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to right teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever they want to hear. They will reject the truth and follow strange myths."

2 Timothy 4: 3-4

Remember the "Story of Stuff" and the Victor Lebow comment?

The car and consumerism is king and we look for evidence to re-inforce that view.

The cigarette companies suppressed the link between smoking and cancer for years, the oil industry killed off the electric car in the seventies, Supermarkets give us 'choice' but fix prices, Banks cry credit crunch then don't pass on the benefits they are agiven by government loans to their customers.

We are happy to live in the "Truman Show" we just don't know it.

But God does.

Pendo, did you post the "vote Pendo" comment yourself - ;-)? I thought all the tree huggers had left long lane! You are right about the Truman show - I must watch that again. Anyway, I agree with the last post - Forget Obama, Vote Pendo!

Hey if I got into power I could also move onto the board of a special engineering and services facilities company, cause a war in a far away oil based economy that's easy to defeat and have my company win all of the contracts to rebuild it and pocket the Billions to boot!

Oh sorry US VP Dick Cheney's already done that with Haliburton and Iraq!

ahh but the popular press articles were reviewed from between 1988 and 2002 so.....MANUSCRIPT REJECTED! ;-))

Sorry....had to put on my "peer review" hat there. Pavlovian response.
